Green Island Resort

This eco-resort offers luxurious suites on a tropical island in the Great Barrier Reef. Set amidst lush rainforest, the spacious suites feature private balconies with either rainforest or pool views.

All of Green Island’s 46 suites are air-conditioned and have bathrooms with a separate bath and shower.

Apart from 2 swimming pools and a poolside bar, Green Island offers a variety of activities in the Dive Shop and at Marineland Melanesia.

Green Island’s Emeralds Restaurant offers award-winning tropical cuisine on the outdoor terrace or in the air-conditioned dining room. Alternatively, the Canopy Grill offers casual outdoor dining during the day.

Green Island is just a 45-minute boat ride from Cairns. All resort guests receive complimentary return boat transfers, a glass bottom boat tour, snorkel gear and a sunset drink. Please refer to the fine print below for the transfer times.

Return fast catamaran transfers from Cairns are included and must be pre-booked prior to arrival. Transfers take approximately 45 minutes each way.

Depart from Green Island daily: 09:15, 14:30 or 16:30.

Really great experiences on the island, the cultural tour was a highlight! One night stay is perfect
The island itself is stunning and the staff were extremely helpful and kind. There were so many amazing fish to snorkel amongst right by the beach which meant you could get away with not doing a tour if you were pressed for time (the tour was absolutely amazing so if you do have time I would recommend adding that to your itinerary). One thing I would recommend for everyone to do is the cultural tour of the island. Our guide Blake was extremely knowledgable and taught us so much about the island, as well as the mainland, explained the traditional uses of the plants, explained the history of the reef's formation, and went above and beyond to tailor the experience to our needs. This was definitely a highlight of our entire trip and we are so grateful for the experience and for Blake's enthusiasm.
The resort itself was rather tired looking. For the price we paid we were a little disappointed when we first arrived as it looks quite rundown from the outside. The room itself was really nice on the inside. It is situated in amongst the trees so it aways looks really dark and gloomy outside despite it being warm and extremely sunny on the beachfront (don't sleep in 'cause the weather looks bad - it most likely isn't). There always seemed to be rain around midday. We were there in June so this may not be the case year-round.

The tariff, considering there is no room service, and one washing machine and dryer for the entire resort, and the dryer broke down.........

Beautiful nature spot but ruined by too many day trippers. I will not return for this reason
Large room in lovely green lush setting. Great bathroom Sunset drinks great idea
Day tourists/trippers over ran the place during the day and made any beach activities unpleasant. The common room needs renovating Emerald restaurant was over priced. The breakfast buffet was situated in a freezing cold room. No room service.
